Tuxedos are one of our favorite things to do, and we hope you choose Mara, in Charles City, Iowa, for your menswear.  Mara offers the largest selection of men's suits and tuxedos in Northeast Iowa.  Discover only trusted, local formalwear sources offering affordable suit and tuxedo rentals.  Whether you want to rent (or buy) the whole black-tie ensemble, vests and ties only, or anything in between, we would love to help you.  Our staff has been thoroughly trained in men's formalwear; we do alterations in-house and carry back-stock of the basics to solve last-minute problems. 


We invite you to share your inspiration by bringing pictures or Pinterest boards, and we encourage you to bring color swatches so we can perfectly match your menswear.  The first appointment will include the bride and groom choosing styles and colors together.  We will register the wedding party, including all the names of the groomsmen, ushers, fathers, and ringbearers, as well as anyone else who needs a suit (e.g., the officiant, grandfathers, etc.).  After the wedding party has been registered, you can start sending in the guys to be measured.

Time & Money

We recommend scheduling your in-person tuxedo styling appointment about 4 months before your wedding. This ensures your groom and wedding party have the perfect look, and that our team has enough time to coordinate all the details behind the scenes.

Start sending groomsmen and other wedding party members to our boutique for professional measurements 2–4 months before the wedding, with a final cutoff no later than 6 weeks before the big day. Groomsmen don’t need to pay until they pick up their rentals, which typically range from $150–$300. Payment can be made in-store, by phone, or online upon request.

Your tuxedos and suits will arrive the week of your wedding, no later than Thursday. Final fittings at our boutique are crucial so we can address any last-minute fit adjustments. It’s normal for final try-ons to require minor alterations or replacements — measurements help, but every individual is unique! Depending on the season, we recommend that your groomsmen schedule their final fittings rather than just popping in.

After your wedding, rentals are due back on the Tuesday following the event, between 10 am and 2 pm. Typically, one or two people collect all rentals and return them together. Please note: our boutique is closed on Sundays and Mondays.

Direct Delivery

Can’t make it to the boutique? No problem — we make it simple to get your wedding party suited up from anywhere! Schedule a virtual or phone consultation, and our expert team will guide you through styles, colors, and the first steps to register your wedding party through our online menswear portal. From there, you’ll have full access to track every detail — including payments, measurements, and order updates — all in one place. Your tuxedo or suit rental will arrive 5–10 days before your wedding, delivered straight to your door. After the big day, just use the complimentary return shipping label to send it back — it’s that easy.
